About Emmet Savage
The face of BullSense
I'm Emmet Savage and welcome to BullSense.
I was born into a family where shares were regularly discussed. My father taught the rudiments of stock investing before leaving school, one short lesson at a time. While in college, I started to apply what I'd learned with a small real-money portfolio.
Following graduation I watched internet companies' share prices rise multiple percentages day after day, without a trace of profit to support their growth. For over four years, paper-gains were made by countless investors who discovered they could buy shares online using money borrowed from their broker. I was in there with the crowd, breaking fundamental rules that dad had taught me.
The house of cards came tumbling down in 2000 with the dot-com bubble and my entire portfolio with it. It hurt for a while, but I picked myself up and decided to re-visit what I learned at home and build upon it by studying the behavior of master investors.
Thanks to some blogging my passion for all things stock-related did not go unnoticed and in 2004 I was invited to write for The Motley Fool, a well known US advisory service dedicated to educating, amusing and enriching individual investors. Since then, I've written over 2,000 articles and posts have been read by large audiences throughout the world.
Having managed numerous portfolios for almost twenty years, I've combined real-life practice with a fanatical study of stock markets. My personal portfolio has outgrown every major index over the last decade; as at February 2011, it had risen on average by 26.6% per year for 10 years.
I believe that everyone is qualified to guide their own financial lives, as a result I've taught hundreds of investors how to build market-beating portfolios. Despite being a physics, finance and strategy graduate, I know that all you need to beat the pros is a good head on your shoulders, a few simple rules and a good strategy.
BullSense assumes you know absolutely nothing about the stock market and takes it from there. I'm passionate about what I do, that's why I've attached my face to the product. Alas, it's the only face I've got.
